Purposes of Gurnet Saquish Corporation

The primary purpose of the corporation is to promote the interests of those portions of the Towns of Plymouth and Duxbury, and the inhabitants thereof, known as Duxbury Beach, Gurnet Head, Saquish Beach, Saquish Head, and Western Point, and to assist in the preservation, of their character by the conservation, preservation and maintenance of areas of beach, marshlands, meadows, swamplands, wetlands, and lands lying under water (including in each case adjacent upland) and other open areas, buildings and sites of historical significance, areas of geological or other scientific significance, areas of natural beauty, and areas for the conservation of other natural resources; by promoting and encouraging the maintenance and use of property in a manner compatible with the natural beauty of these areas; by implementing measures for effective public safety; and by promoting and encouraging the enjoyment and study of plants, animals, birds, and other wild life in their natural surroundings.
